Ethnic teachers receive art training
Now, let's pay a visit to Beijing Sports University where a special training program is underway to better prepare young teachers in rural parts of China.
The program is focused on serving the training needs of ethnic minority teachers who will put the theories learned here in Beijing into practice after they return home.
The two-week training course is hosted by the Red Cross Society of China. Nearly 120 teachers from 9 minority areas are receiving training in music, basketball, swimming, and minority education. They have come from several regions around the nation including Inner Mongolia, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Yunnan Province, and the western Autonomous Regions of Tibet and Xinjiang.
Wang Lingning, music teacher, said, "I will take what I learned here back to our school, and give art teachers and PE teachers the materials in order to fully develop our students."
This training aims to improve the cultural and physical education of minority students. Meanwhile, it provides cultural exchanges among members of minority groups.
Receiving training in several subjects will be very helpful for these minority teachers. Unlike urban schools where teachers can specialize in one subject, these educators must teach many classes, not only Chinese and Mathematics, but also physical education, music, and art class.
