Candies laced with rat poison kills 1 child, sickens 2

ONE boy died and two other kids were hospitalized after eating poisoned candies strewn on a village road in north China's Hebei Province. The candies were believed to contain the rat poison.

The tragedy happened on November 6 in Sigezhuang Village near Tangshan City.

The three children were found foaming at the mouth soon after eating the candies, their families said.

A 7-year-old boy was declared dead at the local hospital while the other two were still being treated there, the local media reported.
