Efforts are continuing to repair a section of National Highway 213, in Sichuan Province, damaged by a rain-triggered mudslide. But work has been hindered by continued floods and mudslides.

Earlier we spoke to a reporter from our sister Chinese-language News Channel, Zheng Bo, who's on site, and asked how long it would take to fix the problem.

Zheng Bo said, "I'm now standing on the left bank of the Minjiang River, on the Luoquanwan Bridge of National Highway 213. The bridge connects a 350-meter road to the hillside. But that section of the road was destroyed by the flood, leaving only this bridge. But the flood waters are still pounding the end of the bridge and what remains of the road infrastructure. Yesterday there was a cave-in. After four days of efforts, rescue workers have put in more than 2-thousand rocks weighing over 3 tons in total, and that's been effective. As for when the Highway could return to normal operation... that depends on the water level changes and the weather, whether more rain comes, and how construction proceeds on a channel to help release the flood water."
