Beijing Hit by Heavy Torrential Rain

The heaviest torrential rain to hit Beijing in 13 years paralyzed traffic, canceled flights, and killed two people on Sunday.

Rainfall exceeded two inches in an hour in Haidan District, the first area to be hit, according to Beijing News. Shortly afterwards, other places, including Daxing and Fengtai Districts, copped the deluge, reaching major storm levels.

By late evening, the average rainfall of the city reached two inches, and the number of weather stations recording heavy rainfall nearing four inches amounted to 17.
