Official suspended for beating journalists in revenge

THE Industrial & Commercial Bureau of Shenyang, capital of northeast China's Liaoning Province, has suspended its director Yang Xiaosong from duty and is investigating the allegation of his corruption, the People Daily reported today. Yang led a group of hit men to beat two journalists of a local newspaper on June 9 for exposing the food safety problem in a shop run by his wife. The incident drew people's attention to the 5 million yuan initial investment needed to open this shop as Yang's salary income was only 100,000 yuan a year. The bureau said third-party investigators are working on the case and it will deal with the Yang's problem according to the law.
