Fujian police rescue 31 kids abducted from Yunnan

POLICE in east China's Fujian Province have rescued 31 abducted kids and detained 26 suspects of a child-abduction gang, China News Service reported yesterday. The rescue operation was launched after Fujian police received reports from their colleagues in southwest Yunnan Province that a 29-year-old woman, named Su Tonghui, in Qiaoxian County, Yunnan was suspected of child trafficking. Investigations showed that Su and her partners abducted kids in Yunnan Province and sold them to Fujian. Fujian police later located a gang in Dehua County in Fujian who acted as Su's brokers to sell abducted kids to local families, the report said. On May 11, Fujian police took action and captured 12 suspected gang members. In the next few days 14 more suspects were detained and 31 abducted children were rescued. These children are now sheltered in a local welfare home, waiting for DNA tests to identify their parents. Meanwhile, Yunnan police captured Su and her gang members, according to the report.
