Magnitude-5.7 earthquake hits northern Taiwan

BEIJING - An earthquake measuring 5.0 on the Richter scale jolted Ilan county at the northeast coast of Taiwan at 4:35 pm Beijing Time Saturday, according to the China Earthquake Network Center. The epicenter, with a depth of 60 km, was monitored at 24.7 degrees north latitude and 121.8 degrees east longitude, the center said.
