A set of photos showed a class of primary school students studying in a classroom with a coffin in the front has shocked Chinese netizens and sparked heated discussion. Two years ago, a primary school in a small village in Shaanxi province was certified as a "dilapidated house". With no funding to build up a new school, the school rented a room from residence as the classroom. Since then, the students have been studying with the coffin.

(Project Hope () is a Chinese public service project aiming to bring schools into poverty-stricken rural areas of China, to help children whose families are too poor to afford it to complete elementary school education.)

The way you think of question is very partial. Whats everybody get involved in education ? It doesnt just mean, everybody has the right to receive education, it also means get involved in improving the education, especially education in poor area. It calls for a wider base of support from the public. Do you ever conduct a survey on the primary schools in the countryside? If you think education is just the responsibility of the government, then you are just talking generalities.

?ZF!

I know about the education condition in the mountain area far more better than all you guys. The primary schools of small villages scatter around the mountain. The construction materials are not that easy to be carried all the way up there. People always complain about the education in these areas, but can you take meaningful action to improve things? Yes, I agree that there is corruption and unbalance in education between poor area and rich area. But how about the local villagers? If they all do something, it wont be impossible to bu! ild up a school with the help of all the villagers. I used to live in a poor area but not up in the hill. Life is much easier. Back then, most of the schools infrastructure is done with the money donated by the villagers. Dont just sit and wait for the help from the government. If the villagers play importance on the childrens education, they should stop being used to asking for help!

We have the money for a grand Beijing Olympic games, yet we are short of the money for a school. Why is that? Because we lack democracy in the country.

Damn it. Wed better be born in Africa. Why our money is spent on supporting the foreign countries not ourselves?

Does China really lack the money for building up a school? Buy a cheaper car for the government officials or let them stop drinking wines for a year, that would save up a fortune to build thousands of schools. Go check how much money the Shaanxi government has spent on dinners and alcohol in one year.

Who is the bustard that claimed, However poor the country is, the education of children is the last thing to sacrifice.? ("." literally means no matter how poor the country is, children should not be the one to suffer or be deprived of education. It was words of the Chou En-lai, the first Premier of the Peoples Republic of China.)

Why are the schools not the most solid and beautiful buildings?

Why the government buildings built like a royal palace??

The homeless die of hunger and cold by the roadside, while the rich dine and drink luxuriously in their mansions, even to let the leftover meat and wine rot away. (lines from a famous poem by the Du Pu, a prominent Chinese poet of the Tang Dynasty )
